Name: Thomas Wendt Date of Birth: 05.08.1967 Place of Birth: Heidelberg, Germany Nationality: German Work Address: Biological Structures and Biocomputing Programme European Molecular Biology Laboratory Meyerhofstr. 1 69117 Heidelberg Germany Tel: 49-6221-387241 e-mail: Wendt@EMBL-Heidelberg.de Education: University of Heidelberg 1988-94 Diploma in Biology 28.04.94 English Institute High School 1978-87 Qualifications: During university education I specialized in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and especially biophysics, which was animated through several seminars at the Max-Planck-Institute for medical research in the department of Prof. Dr. K. Holmes. Beside two practical courses in the EM unit of the Max-Planck-Institute, I had the chance to work independently in the EM unit at the Technical University in Munich in the biophysics departement headed by Prof. Dr. Sackmann on the examination of actin networks formed in synthetic lipid vesicles by freeze fracturing. I finished my first degree with a diploma project in Dr. Kevin Leonard's group on structural studies of the troponin-tropomyosin complex of insect flight muscle that has been continued during PhD work. In addition I gained experience in a diagnostic laboratory on different protein detection and quantification methods (ELISA, RIA, Bradford, SDS-PAGE) as a part time student from 1991-92. PhD: since 1994 in the group of Dr. Kevin Leonard at EMBL Publication: Wendt, T., Guenebaut, V., Leonard, K.R., (1997) J. Struct. Biol: Vol 118, 1-8; Structure of the Lethocerus Troponin-Tropomyosin Complex as determined by electron microscopy Goltz, M., Wendt, T., Oppenlaender, M., Spring, H., Pawlita, M., (1997) J.
